CIRI continuing as lead sponsor for annual Rhode Island Transportation Forum.

34th annual event to be held at URI on October 29.

Exploring the theme “Transportation Infrastructure Durability and Sustainable System for Eternal Peace and Prosperity,” the annual Rhode Island Transportation Forum will take place at the University of Rhode Island’s Memorial Union on Friday, October 29, 2021. CIRI will again serve as a top-tier sponsor with several member companies also providing additional program and financial support.

The 2021 keynote speaker will be Dr. Audrey Copeland, P.E., President & CEO of the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA). Additional featured speakers will include Governor Dan McKee, Congressman Jim Langevin, RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, Jr., P.E. and Carlos Machado, RI Division Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Podium presentations will be made by faculty and researchers from various New England institutions, along with poster presentations by URI researchers and students.

Hosted by the RI Transportation Research Center (RITRC), the one-day forum was created by URI’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in 1992. It attracts international attendees from all facets of the field, including construction industries, consulting firms and academia — along with federal, state and municipal agencies.

Topic areas to be presented/discussed at the 2021 forum include pavement-mix and structural solutions for durability, sustainability and climate resilience, leading-edge asphalt reclamation and recycling, green infrastructure and thermoelectric systems.
