Since construction is designated as an essential industry, we’ve been able to provide for our families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Others have not been so fortunate. With winter setting in and the holidays approaching, the number of RI families facing food insecurity — 1 out of 4 — is the highest in 20 years.
Working tirelessly to provide 68,000 guests every month, the RI Food Bank itself has COVID related challenges. This includes shortages of both food donations and volunteers. At a time when school closures and remote learning deprive many children of one of their most reliable sources of food and nutrition.
Every $10 donated can provide 25 meals. CIRI is asking all who are able to make a donation to the RI Food Bank. No matter how small. Together, we can help to ensure that no Rhode Island family will go hungry this winter. Here are the ways you can help:
Donate using the CIRI fundraising page. [click here]
Food donations at Cardi Corporation: 385 Lincoln Avenue, Warwick, RI.
A donation pod for non-perishable food items will be in operation at the Cardi Safety Office. A list of the most-needed items can be found here on the RI Food Bank website.
