Transportation forum celebrates 30th anniversary of the RITRC.
CIRI was a sponsor for 35th annual event at URI on October 28.
Co-hosted by RIDOT and the RI Transportation Research Center (RITRC), the one-day Rhode Island Transportation Forum was created by URI’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in 1992. It attracts international attendees from all facets of the field, including construction industries, consulting firms and academia — along with federal, state and municipal agencies.
At the 35th Rhode Island Transportation Forum, CIRI once again served as a sponsor with several member companies also providing additional program and financial support.

The keynote presentation on mobile asphalt technology was delivered by Derek Nener-Plante, MS, PE, pavement and materials engineer for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This was followed by a look at evolutionary asphalt improvements by Professor Amit Bhasin, director of the Center for Transportation Research for the University of Texas at Austin.
Other topic areas presented/discussed at the 2022 forum included enhancing the durability of bridge decks, treatment of contaminated sites, sustainable transportation strategies and structural solutions for climate resilience.
